Private Lessons
Personalized Training for You and Your Dog
Private lessons are for owners who want to be involved in their dog’s training and have the time to put in the work between sessions.
I work with each dog as an individual. Some dogs need basic obedience and better manners. Others need help with reactivity, anxiety, fear, aggression, or other challenging behaviors. Because every dog and every situation is different, I offer private training in customized packages based on what your dog actually needs.
My goal is not just to teach your dog commands. I want to teach you how to communicate clearly with your dog so you can continue that training in your everyday life.
Clear Communication. Structure. Leadership.
I believe dogs thrive when they have clear expectations.
Training is about more than asking a dog to sit or stay. It is about teaching them how to live successfully within the structure of your household and giving them clear boundaries to follow.
Dogs need leadership. They need consistency. They need to understand what is expected of them and what behaviors are appropriate.
Discipline is a part of that process. When a dog understands boundaries and receives consistent guidance, they can make better choices and become more confident in the world around them.
At the same time, training should strengthen the relationship between you and your dog. Good leadership is not about intimidation. It is about being clear, consistent, fair, and dependable.
My goal is to help you become the person your dog can look to for direction while building a relationship based on trust, communication, and respect.
What Can Private Lessons Help With?
Private dog training can be used for everything from basic obedience to more advanced behavior modification.
Depending on your dog and your goals, we may work on:
- Basic obedience
- Leash walking
- Recall
- Sit, down, place, and stay
- Impulse control
- Door manners
- Jumping and mouthing
- Puppy training
- Household manners
- Reactivity toward dogs or people
- Fear and anxiety
- Aggression
- Resource guarding
- Confidence building
- Better communication between you and your dog
- Behavior modification for more challenging issues
Your package will be based on the dog in front of me and the goals we are working toward. Some dogs may need only foundational training, while others require a longer and more involved behavior modification program.
Training Tools Are Included
You do not need to purchase a bunch of equipment before getting started.
Training tools are included with your private lesson package.
I will determine what tools are appropriate for your dog and teach you how to use them properly. You will leave each lesson knowing what to do, how to do it, and why it matters.
Private Lessons Require Your Commitment
Private training is a great choice if you have the time and want to actively participate in your dog’s training.
I will teach you how to work with your dog, but you will need to practice between lessons. Consistency is a major part of training. The work you put in at home is what helps turn a training lesson into a lasting behavior.
Private lessons are especially beneficial for owners who want to understand their dogs better and become more confident handling them.
You are not simply sending your dog away to be trained. You are learning how to communicate with and lead your dog.
Private Lessons or Board and Train?
The right program depends on your dog and your schedule.
If you have the time to work with your dog consistently, private lessons are a great way to learn together. You will be involved throughout the process and learn skills you can continue using for the rest of your dog’s life.
If your schedule is packed and you realistically do not have much time to dedicate to training between lessons, a Board and Train program may be a better fit.
Board and Train allows me to spend more concentrated time working with your dog while they are in my care. You will still receive guidance on how to maintain the training once your dog comes home.
There is no right or wrong choice. It comes down to what works best for your dog and what you can realistically commit to.
Have the time to put in the work? Private lessons may be right for you.

How Private Training Works
1. We Talk About Your Dog
We will discuss your dog’s behavior, history, current challenges, and what you want to accomplish through training.
2. I Build a Training Plan
Based on your dog’s needs, I will recommend a customized private training package. The number of lessons will depend on the goals and behaviors we are addressing.
3. We Train Together
I will work with you and your dog and teach you how to communicate clearly, use your training tools correctly, establish boundaries, and handle the situations you are struggling with.
4. You Practice at Home
The work continues between lessons. I will give you the skills and direction you need to continue practicing with your dog at home and in the real world.
5. We Build Lasting Results
My goal is not for your dog to only listen to me. I want you to be able to confidently lead and handle your dog and continue using what you have learned long after your private lessons are finished.
