Board & Train
Real Training. Real Structure. Real Life.
Board & Train gives your dog the opportunity to learn in a structured environment with consistent training throughout their stay.
Whether your dog needs puppy training and basic obedience, better manners and leash skills, or more intensive behavior modification, Board & Train allows me to work with them consistently and build reliable habits over time.
My approach is balanced, structured, and practical. I believe dogs do best when expectations are clear and consistent. Training includes reinforcement for good choices, appropriate consequences for unwanted behavior, and the structure and boundaries needed to help your dog become more reliable.
What Can Board & Train Help With?
Board & Train can help with a wide range of training and behavior concerns, including:
• Puppy training and puppy obedience
• Basic dog obedience training
• Advanced dog obedience training
• Leash training and dogs that pull on leash
• Off leash training and reliable recall
• Stubborn dogs and dogs that don’t listen
• Dogs jumping on people
• Poor manners and lack of boundaries
• Impulse control and overexcitement
• Dog behavior around distractions
• Dog socialization and difficulty around other dogs
• Reactive dogs and leash reactivity
• Dog aggression toward people or other dogs
• Fearful or nervous dogs
• Dog anxiety and difficulty being alone
• Resource guarding
• Barking and unwanted behaviors
• Household manners and structure
• Severe or complex behavior problems
The length and structure of your dog’s program will depend on their age, temperament, training history, behavior, and goals.
More Than Basic Obedience
Board & Train isn’t just about teaching commands.
For dogs with more significant behavior issues, training may involve identifying triggers, improving impulse control, establishing boundaries, changing patterns of unwanted behavior, and teaching the dog how to make better choices.
For dogs who are simply lacking structure or basic training, the focus may be on building obedience, manners, engagement, and reliability.
Every dog gets a training plan based on where they are starting and where they need to go.
Structure & Consistency
Dogs don’t learn just because someone spends an hour training them.
They learn through consistent expectations and repetition throughout everyday life.
During a Board & Train, training becomes part of your dog’s daily routine. Obedience, manners, boundaries, and appropriate behavior are reinforced throughout the day rather than being limited to a single training session.
The goal is to build habits that hold up outside of a formal training environment.
Real World Training
A dog that listens perfectly in a quiet room isn’t necessarily a trained dog.
I work to expose dogs to different environments, distractions, people, dogs, and situations as appropriate for their individual training level.
The goal is a dog that can take what they have learned and apply it to real life.
Your Role Matters
Board & Train does not mean you hand your dog over and get back a finished product.
Your dog’s training needs to continue when they come home.
That’s why private lessons are included with my Board & Train programs.
You won’t simply pick up your dog at the end of their stay and be expected to figure everything out on your own. I’ll work with you and your dog after the program so you understand how to maintain the training, reinforce the expectations, and continue providing the structure your dog has learned.
Your involvement is an important part of making the training stick.
How It Works
1. Consultation & Evaluation
We’ll discuss your dog’s history, current behavior, training goals, and any concerns you have. I’ll determine whether Board & Train is appropriate and which program best fits your dog.
2. Training
Your dog stays with me and receives consistent training throughout their program. Their training plan is based on their individual needs and adjusted as they progress.
Training may include obedience, leash skills, boundaries, impulse control, household manners, real world distractions, and behavior modification depending on your dog’s goals.
3. Training Tools Included
You won’t have to guess what equipment you need to continue the training.
The training tools your dog needs for their program are included, so you’ll have the appropriate equipment and know how to use it when your dog comes home.
4. Private Lessons After Board & Train
The training doesn’t stop when your dog comes home.
Private lessons are included with your Board & Train program so I can work directly with you and your dog after the stay.
We’ll work together on handling, commands, boundaries, expectations, and real world situations so you know how to maintain the training outside of my care.
A dog may learn a great deal while staying with me, but the goal is for you to be able to get the same results at home.
5. Continued Training
Board & Train gives you a foundation. Your consistency is what maintains it.
I’ll give you the tools, instruction, and hands on guidance you need to continue building on your dog’s training long after their stay is over.
Every Dog Is Different
There is no universal Board & Train program that works exactly the same for every dog.
A young dog learning basic obedience and a dog with severe reactivity or aggression have very different needs. Their training plans, timelines, and goals should reflect that.
Some dogs need a strong foundation. Others need significant behavior modification. My job is to meet the dog where they are and build from there.
Is Board & Train Right for Your Dog?
Board & Train can be a great option if you’re looking for an intensive, structured training experience or your dog needs more consistency than you can realistically provide on your own.
