Perfect Puppy Program
Consistent Puppy Training From Puppyhood Into Adulthood
The Perfect Puppy Program is designed to give your puppy consistent, professional training throughout their most important stages of development.
Instead of addressing problems only when they come up, this program provides an ongoing puppy training plan that grows with your dog. I work with your puppy through weekly Day Training and Private Lessons, followed by a four-week Board & Train at approximately six months of age. After Board & Train, I continue working with you through Private Lessons to help maintain and build upon your dog’s training at home.
My approach is balanced, structured, and practical. Puppies need more than basic commands and rewards. They need clear communication, consistent expectations, structure, boundaries, and guidance as they learn how to navigate the world.
The goal isn’t to train your puppy for a few weeks and then stop. It’s to establish good habits early, continue building on those habits as your puppy matures, and give you the tools and knowledge to maintain that progress throughout your dog’s life.
How the Perfect Puppy Program Works
Stage 1: Building the Foundation
Weekly Day Training + Private Lessons
Your puppy’s training begins with a combination of weekly Day Training and Private Lessons.
During Day Training, I work directly with your puppy on the skills and behaviors they need to develop. Private Lessons allow me to teach you how to reinforce those skills, establish boundaries, and continue the training at home.
Depending on your puppy’s age, temperament, and individual needs, training may include:
• Puppy obedience training
• Puppy house training and potty training
• Puppy crate training
• Puppy leash training
• Teaching your puppy to walk nicely on leash
• Puppy recall training
• Place training
• Impulse control and overexcitement
• Puppy socialization
• Socialization with people, dogs, and new environments
• Greeting people appropriately
• Puppy biting and mouthing
• Jumping on people
• Door manners
• Settling and relaxation
• Building confidence
• Household manners
• Establishing boundaries and good habits
The goal during this stage is to establish a strong foundation and develop good habits before unwanted behaviors have a chance to become established.
Stage 2: Four-Week Board & Train
At approximately 6 months of age
Once your puppy has developed their foundation, they transition into a four-week Board & Train.
This provides an opportunity for more intensive, consistent training while building upon the skills your puppy has already learned.
Because your puppy has been working with me throughout the earlier stages of the program, the Board & Train is not starting from scratch. I already know your dog, their personality, their strengths, and the areas that need continued work.
Training during this stage is tailored to your dog’s individual needs and may include obedience, leash training, recall, place, impulse control, boundaries, real-world distractions, and other training goals.
Training tools are included with the Board & Train portion of the program. You’ll go home with the equipment your dog has been trained on, along with instruction on how to use it properly and continue the training.
The Board & Train is another step in your puppy’s development, not a standalone training experience.
Stage 3: Bringing the Training Home
Private Lessons After Board & Train
Training doesn’t end when your dog comes home from Board & Train.
After the four-week Board & Train, I continue working with you through Private Lessons.
These lessons help you successfully transition your dog’s training back into your everyday routine. I’ll show you how to maintain the behaviors we’ve worked on, reinforce good habits, establish consistent expectations, and continue progressing as your puppy matures.
You’ll have the training tools, knowledge, and hands-on instruction you need to continue the work at home.
This stage is an important part of the program because your dog needs consistency from you, too.
Professional training can establish the skills, but what happens at home is what helps those skills become reliable everyday behaviors.
A Balanced Approach to Puppy Training
I don’t believe puppies should simply be rewarded for everything they do, nor do I believe training should be built around constant correction.
My approach is balanced training, which means teaching your puppy what is expected, reinforcing good choices, and appropriately addressing unwanted behavior.
Puppies need structure and boundaries. They need to understand that some behaviors are encouraged while others are not allowed.
Clear expectations and consistent follow-through help puppies understand how to behave in the home and out in the real world.
The goal is not to create a puppy that is afraid to make a mistake. The goal is to create a dog that understands boundaries, responds to guidance, and has the foundation to make better choices as they mature.
Why Consistency Matters
Puppies are learning all the time. Every interaction, experience, and behavior can become a habit.
That’s why consistency matters so much.
A puppy who receives professional training once in a while may learn individual skills, but consistent training allows those skills to be reinforced repeatedly as your puppy grows.
The Perfect Puppy Program is designed around that idea.
Your puppy works with me regularly. You learn how to continue the training at home. As your puppy develops, the training progresses with them.
Rather than waiting for unwanted behaviors to become difficult problems, the goal is to build good habits from the beginning and continue reinforcing them over time.
What Your Puppy Will Learn
Every puppy is different, so training is tailored to your puppy’s individual needs. Depending on your puppy, training may include:
Puppy Obedience Training
Building reliable foundational commands and teaching your puppy to focus, listen, and respond to you.
Puppy Leash Training
Teaching your puppy how to walk appropriately, pay attention to their handler, and develop good leash habits from the start.
Puppy Recall Training
Building a reliable response when your puppy is called and teaching them to come when called.
Puppy Impulse Control
Helping your puppy learn patience, manage excitement, respect boundaries, and make better choices.
Puppy House Manners
Teaching appropriate behavior in the home and establishing expectations for everyday household routines.
Puppy Potty & Crate Training
Helping your puppy develop appropriate house training habits and become comfortable with their crate.
Puppy Biting & Mouthing
Teaching your puppy appropriate ways to interact with people and addressing unwanted biting and mouthing behaviors.
Place & Settling
Teaching your puppy how to relax, settle, and remain in a designated place when asked.
Puppy Socialization
Helping your puppy appropriately experience new people, dogs, environments, sounds, and situations.
Confidence Building
Helping your puppy become comfortable navigating new experiences and developing confidence as they grow.
A Program That Grows With Your Puppy
Your puppy’s needs change as they grow. The training should change with them.
Early Puppyhood
Weekly Day Training + Private Lessons
Build the foundation, establish good habits, and teach your puppy how to respond to structure and boundaries.
Approximately 6 Months
Four-Week Board & Train
Build upon the foundation with more intensive training, increased distractions, and continued development of obedience and manners.
Training tools are included.
After Board & Train
Private Lessons
Continue reinforcing the training and help your dog transition those skills into everyday life with you.
This ongoing approach allows me to continue building on what your puppy has already learned instead of starting over every time a new stage of development begins.
